Why I created Church News
My name is John and I’ve been working with churches and parishes since 2001.
It started when I was brought in to build a new website for a parish. I thought it would be a straightforward job. What I didn’t expect was to get a front row seat to just how much work goes on behind the scenes in a church community. The admin. The organising. The communicating. The endless list of things that need doing every single week with very little time, very little budget and a whole lot of heart. I never forgot that.
Over the years I went on to spend more than two decades working in marketing and development, a big part of which was building and running online newsletters. I now run one of the largest daily prayer websites in the world.
Every Sunday, like many of you, I pick up my parish newsletter and read it cover to cover. I rely on it to know what’s going on. To feel connected. To feel part of something.
I know how much work goes into that little newsletter. And I know that the person who puts it together every week rarely gets the credit they deserve.
Church News is my small way of helping to change that.
